The Best Self Emptying Robot Vacuum
The best self-emptying robot vacuum has an underlying container that can hold one month's worth of debris and automatically empty. It also creates a detailed map of your home and allows you to label rooms and establish "no-go" zones.
It is equipped with superior obstacle avoidance abilities, too, so it can stay clear of power cords and rogue socks.
Roomba s9+ from iRobot
This robot is a premium model from iRobot and performs extremely well. It can easily move across different surfaces and is extremely efficient at taking dust, dirt and other debris away. It's also sturdy and looks good too.
The S9 is the latest iRobot premium S Series robot vacuum. It boasts a few extra features that help it stand out from other models. For instance, the iRobot app uses the camera on this unit to create a map of your home, which helps it navigate and clean efficiently.
It will also return to the location where it left off when its battery is depleted during the cleaning process, so you don't have to re-clean the same spots. You can also set it up to start and stop cleaning sessions using a simple voice command or via the iRobot app. This smart vacuum can also clean in the dark!
Carpet Boost is another great feature. It gives the S9 more suction power when it comes in contact with carpeting so that it will pick up more dirt. The unit also has the square front design, which gets closer to corners and walls than older round designs. But, be aware that this model doesn't do well with shag or high-pile carpeting.
In our tests during our testing, we discovered that the iRobot S9+ cleans thoroughly and efficiently on a range of floor surfaces, from hard to medium-pile carpets and rugs. It also did well on tiles, vinyl flooring, and laminate flooring. It was capable of navigating around furniture and other objects, but it had issues with stairs, and could accidentally crash into bookcases.
We liked the fact that the S9 automatically returns to its base to empty its dust bin when it's full, which greatly reduces the need for hands-on maintenance. The dust bin is expected to last for around 30 loads or a month and a half. You'll need to replace the filter periodically (as recommended by iRobot). The iRobot S9+ is not very loud when it's in use, making it a good option for families with children or pets.
Eufy RoboVac X8 Hybrid
Designed to eliminate one of the most difficult tasks off your hands, robotic vacuum cleaners take care of all the work to get hardwood and carpeted floors free of the everyday dust. Some robot vacuum cleaners are able to be controlled using an app on your smartphone, while others have mopping technology for bathrooms and kitchen flooring. They're a great solution for busy families, and are becoming more affordable than ever before. If you're looking for the most advanced technology for your robotic cleaner, then you'll have to shell out a bit more.
The Eufy RoboVac X8 Hybrid is an all-in-one mopping and vacuum machine which makes it a great option for those living in a home with multiple floors. Its dual motors give it an impressive cleaning capacity and the 0.6l dust bin can hold a lot of pet hair. The dustbin can be taken away and emptied without fuss which is beneficial because you'll need to clean it regularly.
It's simple to set up too, although I recommend fully charging the X8 Hybrid before running it for the first time. Install the Eufy Home application and follow the instructions to connect it to your WiFi network. After you've completed this, the app will help you to create a detailed map of your home. It can identify the rooms, split rooms into sub-rooms in order to make it easier for open-plan living and direct the X8 Hybrid towards specific areas that need to be cleaned at a particular time. Other robots also offer similar mapping and scanning functions, but Eufy's application feels more refined and intuitive than other models.
One of the best features on the X8 Hybrid is that you can control the mop or vacuum with your voice, thanks to the integration with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant. This is a nice touch that makes the robot more hands-free. It also is very effective in our test house.
The floor vacuum robot X8 Hybrid, like many robotic vacuums, has problems with floors that are not fully covered. It can miss pet fur and other small objects, and tends to bump things like its charger on the charging platform. It's not as quiet and the whirring sound could be distracting as other models.
Roborock V3S pro
The robot doesn't have as many features as some of the more expensive models we tested, but it has all the basics. It has a huge enough dust bin to hold plenty of dirt before it's empty, and its vacuum and mop system is great for carpets with low pile and hard floors. It's also super quiet, and we could watch the TV while it was working without feeling like it was blazing us with noise.
Our test participants were extremely pleased by how easy the machine was to use and set up. They also loved the ability to clean all the messes that had accumulated on their floors. It even did a pretty excellent job of removing pet hair and other messes that get on carpeting, but it was less successful in removing stubborn stains. The app was simple to use and easy to understand. They could program the vacuum to clean frequently to reduce the amount of manual work. The only drawback is that it doesn't include any mapping technology or object avoidance, so you can't send it to specific rooms or follow virtual boundaries (though magnetic boundary strips work).
Another model from the iRobot's budget line which is the V3S Pro has some impressive features for the price. It beat out all other robotic vacuums we tested in terms of the ability to avoid obstacles and map them, and it's the perfect option for those who want an intelligent self-emptying robot vacuum that can handle pet hair and messes on both carpets with low pile and hardwood floors. It's also super quiet and has a huge dust bin that can hold a lot of debris before it needs emptying, so you don't have to worry about constantly emptying it.
While the V3S Pro didn't earn a spot in any of our top choices compilations from reliable sources that conduct hands-on tests, it was highly praised by reviewers from Modern Castle, Smart Robot Reviews and The Ambient. The V3S Pro was simple to use and set up, however the battery life was not long.
Roborock Q Revo
The Q Revo is a solid basic robot vacuum and mop that doesn't skimp on features or prices. You'll find many of the features that you'll find on top models, such as intelligent navigation and mapping, without spending a fortune. You can even use voice commands via Alexa, Google Assistant, or Apple Siri shortcuts to create custom automations, and then start cleaning at any time while you're away.
Roborock has spent time in the development of this innovative cleaner. The result is that the product is extremely sturdy and feels as if it was made with premium materials. Its base is strong and sturdy, with an integrated charging port for the battery. You'll find the docking station for the clean-water tank and the dirty-water bins above. There's also a panel under the dock that holds the vacuum bag that is sealed.
After connecting your device to the application, you will see a 2D and 3D map of your home that will show you the location of your robot at any given moment and the area it is cleaning. You can also create virtual barriers to keep the robot out of certain areas and make sure that it only cleans certain kinds of floors. It can also alter its power settings according to the type of floor being cleaned and select the most efficient cleaning method.
In contrast to other robot vacuums like the Q Revo, it can lift up both of its mops as it vacuums to prevent staining your carpet fibres. In fact, it's one of the few vacuums on the market that can do this.
When it comes to mopping, the Q Revo's 5500Pa suction capabilities can be enough to take out specks of dust, strands of pet hair, and other debris. And the all-rubber brush is excellent at separating hair from animals and humans and adapting to uneven surfaces.
The only downside to this model is that it takes a long time to fill and empty both the dirty and clean tanks. Luckily, you can decrease the frequency of this by utilizing the auto-empty feature, which will automatically empty the bin after a couple of days. There is no automatic reminder to verify the level of water on the dock.
